Ikea Helps Shelter Animals Find New Homes

Apparently furniture isn’t the only thing Ikea advertises now.  Some Ikea stores are partnering with shelters to help rescue animals get adopted.

The idea to display the pets inside the store started in Singapore as a collaboration between Ikea and two animal shelters (source), and a Arizona Ikea has also since joined in the plan initiative.

The cutouts all display a different barcode, which customers can scan with their phones for more information on the pet pictured (source.)

In a stroke of genius, cardboard cutouts of real shelter animals are displayed on Ikea furniture display sets to show customers how “homey” their furniture could look with a furry friend added into the mix.

Pretty cool, Ikea. Anyone who works rescue knows it’s a never-ending battle; there will always be homeless pets, so it’s nice to see businesses working with shelters to help find these animals their furever homes.
